Spring Meeting at the home of Rosalyn and David Preston

on Sun, 04/10/2016 - 19:36

The Spring Meeting was held at the lovely home of Rosalyn and David Preston. We were entertained first by Arianna Rodriguez, an aspiring opera singer from GMU.

Then our three career competition winners performed (all from UNCSA): From left to right Margaret Gayford (third), Chessa Metz (second) and Mary Mattison Vallery (first prize). Mary will be representing us at the finals in Pheonix.

President Corky Sablinsky then thanked retiring Board members along with their replacements: Janice Chevalier (Winston Art Scholarship Chair), whose job will be taken over by Tara Little; Bob Burns (Treasurer), who will be succeeded by Rosalyn Preston; and Anne Taylor, responsible for coordinating delicious food contributions to our meetings. A very special farewell was extended to Nancy Brockman, long time Board member. Nancy founded our NSAL VA/NC Chapter in 2001, and before moving to Charlottesville, served as the Washington DC Chapter President and as National NSAL President. She is moving to North Carolina to be near her two daughters there.
